Kate Bottoni is the founder of Studio KaBo, a natural dye and artisanal work space producing small collections of textiles and individual work that blend traditional craft with contemporary design. Sourced from nature through the use of food waste, foraged materials from her bio-region or thoughtfully sourced natural pigments, she curates one of a kind handmade pieces. She gives emphasis to detail - celebrating the individuality of each material she uses. Every creation is unique and made from her home studio in Zurich. She uses thrifted, donated, vintage, and, whenever possible, local and mindfully sourced textiles.

How do I care for naturally dyed fabrics?
Spot clean or hand wash in cool water
Use gentle/pH neutral soap (this is also better for our precious waterways)
Lay flat or hang to dry out of direct sunlight
Iron while damp
Store out of direct sunlight
Do naturally dyed fabrics fade over time?
All dyes - synthetic and natural - fade with time and wear. As long as the natural fibres have been properly prepared and mordanted (to ensure that dye and fibre molecules bond strongly) and stored and cleaned appropriately, then natural dyes will last for many, many years.
What else should I know about natural dyes?
Natural dyes are extracted from natural materials and can vary in colour and depth depending on the characteristics of the local bio-region.
